We’re thrilled to share that your donations, matched by our generous partners, have now exceeded an incredible £80,000, which will enable us to push for better policies that make more rewilding possible, sooner, across Britain.

The appeal is now closed. If you’d like to donate to Rewilding Britain generally, please follow the links to our donate page.

Nature and climate are in crisis. Rewilding brings hope. Be part of the solution.

Restore nature now

Our government promised to protect 30% of our land and seas by 2030 – that’s just six years from now, and with every delay we move further away from a future where people and nature can thrive together.

Thousands of us have already taken to the streets to demand change – that the people in power take action by rewilding Britain’s landscapes and restoring nature. Together, we can show the government how important it is that they secure a wilder future for us all.

In rewilding, we have both a hopeful solution and a powerful force for nature. We’ve already seen the impact rewilding can have in areas across Britain. Just imagine the difference that could be made when these actions are backed by political action.

Your donations are helping to hold our government to account, urge them to Think Big, Act Wild and ensure they make nature a priority.

Together we can be a force for nature

How your donation is helping

Here are just some of the changes our team of influence and advocacy specialists are campaigning for. Your support helps us push for laws that prioritise wild nature and push the government to Think Big, Act Wild.

Truly protected MPAs

Did you know that destructive activities such as bottom trawling still aren’t banned in the majority of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), despite the detrimental impact it has on the seabed and the species relying on it? In the Dogger Bank Special Area of Conservation, where trawlers were threatening sandeels, a crucial food source for many species, the seabed is now protected by an exclusion on trawling – thanks to relentless campaigning. For MPAs to be truly considered havens for nature, such damaging practice must be banned to allow for nature recovery.

Key species reintroductions

Did you know that beavers can’t be released into the wild in England, despite the incredible impact they have on flood management, water quality and biodiversity? Where beavers have been reintroduced into enclosures, they’re already helping us climate-proof our landscapes and kickstart our ecosystems’ recovery. Only with licensed wild reintroductions, supported and advised by experts, can we fully harness the benefits they bring for nature.

Investment in nature

Did you know that funding for nature has decreased in the past decade, despite the climate breakdown? The Defra budget is now well below the £5.9bn per year recommended in this Scale of Need report, and the Environmental Land Management budget that supports rewilding projects is under threat from future cuts. However, rewilding is quickly gaining traction as an investable asset class. Now we need the UK Government to follow suit and back high-integrity investment to help deliver their promise to protect 30% of our land and seas and halt nature’s decline by 2030.
