Wild boar

Date of disappearance: Around 1260.

Reason: Hunting.

Special power: Single species often dominate the woodland floor in Britain. Wild boar can increase biodiversity, through rooting and wallowing. They are highly effective bracken destroyers, creating space for trees and other plants to grow.

Robins appear to have evolved to follow boar. Wild boar are already a tourist attraction in England.

Suitability for reintroduction: Excellent. They are already living unofficially in parts of England and Scotland. They can cause damage to crops and gardens.
